Secrets Never Keep
Polar Moon Books
1 Quest to save Earth.
2 Adventures!

Driven, Susan Day is young, super smart, full of energy and so shy everything but young is still a secret.
Thinking she’s fell into her dream job with a little help from her BFF getting flakey also makes her a bit naive. Driving the behind-the-scenes content around her ultimate idol, the media mogul Betty B., is a much bigger and trickier job than she could have ever imagined.
With everyone from FBI agents to A-lister stars suddenly in her orbit what could possibly go wrong?
Being shy and naïve from the very start, she’s forced for the first time in her life to rely on her wit with courage and push back at times. Especially when everyone is not on the same page and working together? Hell, the FBI was being down right adversarial…
Did you say FBI?
Betty B. ain’t got no time for any of their foolish games.
Needless to say, the FBI isn’t playing games. Day one’s blood pool center stage wedges Susan between them and Betty B., both hostile and hot. Being a Stanford School of Law grad, the one thing Susan’s not naïve about is the FBI’s broad powers to investigate anything they want any way they want. Powers paved in laws to lock her, Betty B. or anyone else involved up for obstruction with literal file cabinets full of past precedencies not challenged in decades.
Whether or not any of those court cases would hold up in a courtroom today didn’t matter. That was years in the future, this was today, contaminated evidence and the FBI will put you away today to wait out those years into the future for a trial. That wasn’t the exception, that was the rule. Laws had been broken and were continuing to be broken as Betty B. refuses to yield even when directly threatened and ordered to stand down multiple times. Which, being against all of her principals, Betty B. has no intention of even pretending to do for show.
If that were Susan’s only hurdle, she might have a chance, but this is also LA.
Love or hate it, LA is LA and the LA surrounding Betty B. is cliquier than backstage at the Oscars or any one of the coveted after parties. Stepping into the virtual maze littered with crazy characters inserting themselves into any moment they can squeeze into it’s impossible to keep up with the constant reckless competition for attention.
A-listers are suddenly everywhere and keep popping up in roles to challenge her where she least expects them to appear. Top talent, there was a new ceiling. One even spying on her to research an upcoming role. Privacy? No, none at all, thanks to multiple camera angles close enough to read minds. Turn if you want, all stop into a close-up.
On top of all that comes a Cold War secret placing every single living soul on the planet in jeopardy with a maniacal villain controlling it. Ready or not, and Susan is not ready, she’s at the tip of the sword flying toward a fortress in the real jungle for a showdown.

Led, on the inside Huck is beginning to feel he can’t keep on coasting along pushing thirty uncommitted.
Hanging plentiful tens, he’s young for an FBI agent, in his prime as a surfer and living like he’s still a teenager microwaving burritos above Armando’s garage. Sobeit, he’s living his dream realized a decade and a half too late by skipping work to surf. Often and with super hero enthusiasm and viral style.
From the guardrail where people sit to watch and video the fun Huck chases mavericks into two-wave hold downs fearlessly. Locally he’s a legend living the reality of 7 filmed wipeouts that went viral purely for not having drowned him and chanting for more. 4:42 he’d spent crushed under a mountain of water without a breath last time for being too high on a longboard. Bad choices were his thing, so he paddled hard to drop in when the all-expense paid trip to Cabo fell out on the floor of a cute swiped right across the street.
Opportunity knocking, Hola Cabo!
naughty next, and her desk was FCC. The last one having worked out so well there was no reason to question it. Pulling an all-nighter to possibly escape his cubical for a week is a no brainer. The whole setup couldn’t be better or more perfect.
Let’s see…catch a cartel boss red handed? Impounding his pallet of US dollars?
Knock, knock, Huck’s ready to rock! FBI takedowns didn’t get any juicier. It is almost too good to believe and his boss doesn’t. After tearing it up and a ‘milk run’, Huck has a new partner that handcuffs him to his own steering wheel to be chauffeured downtown to meet Betty B. As in the Media Mogul, Bazillionaire and super hot.
She is a Goddess, even hotter in person and he is…immediately hooked.
So, no skipping work to surf today? That’s right! And you know what? It works for starters as she decides on her own that having an FBI agent as an ally could help solve the case she’s wrapped up in the middle of. Huck is more than happy to oblige hoping to connect, but ordered instead to ‘coast’ by Agent Carol, his senior new partner. Which any other day would sound like a plan, break out the board! But he can’t today and keep Betty B. happy.
Worse yet, she’s getting in the way of the FBI’s case with her resources, fame and demands. The investigation heats up solely on leads her team digs up and it’s off to the races and over a cliff to the very end. Playing by the Bureau’s rules she’s being unrealistic about what he can do to help her get to the truth. Betty B.’s rules are completely different. Under her rules the FBI proves to be dead weight, incompetent and frankly an obstacle uninterested in much of the truth.
Bid bye, bye and barely told why they are abandoned after a close call with a Cold War secret weapon that threatens all mankind. In the hands of a villain hard to take seriously online, Huck is thrust right back into the world of being an active tier one operator. It’s a history he would rather flee than relive at this point. But that isn’t in the cards when old acquaintances join in the hunt.
It’s tough medicine to feel overwhelming fear where superstition, the smell of an oily barrel and dog tags taped together beating on his chest used to hold him together. Powder nosed to the jungle on fumes, there is no battle plan. Betty B. along with a countdown to end the world has chipped away too loud to ignore that maybe for once there is truly no way out that works. He’ll die, they will die, it’s ‘let the bullets fly’. Shoot low G.I. Joe!
